KLEZMER FOR KIDS! (AND FAMILIES!)

Kids love Klezmer! Shirim has entertained and educated thousands of kids at hundreds of concerts about the history of klezmer music and the Jewish people. Through this infectious music, kids learn about the movement of Jewish culture from the Middle East through Europe and to America. The band gets kids and adults clapping, singing and dancing as they explore Jewish adaptations of the Russian kozatsky, the Romanian doina, and the Hassidic nigunim. Shirim has performed in schools all over Massachusetts, at temples, summer camps, and children’s museums, and has found that kids of all backgrounds instantly understand the joy and beauty of this music.
